Preview the app as a persona
If you are a platform administrator, you can preview the whole app as if you held any persona. This lets you see exactly what a Data Steward or a Data Engineer experiences, and what a regular organization administrator or a platform administrator sees, without changing your own persona or anyone’s data. The preview is read-only.
Start a preview
Section titled “Start a preview”Open your account menu from your avatar in the top-right corner, then open View as. You will see the preview targets:
- Data Steward
- Data Engineer
- Organization Admin
- Platform Admin
Choose one. The app reskins to that persona and takes you to that persona’s home page, so you experience the persona from where its work begins.
You can preview any persona, regardless of which personas are assigned to you. This is different from the Persona option in the same menu, which is limited to the personas your administrator allowed you.
Know when a preview is active
Section titled “Know when a preview is active”While a preview is active, the View as entry in your account menu names the active target. To leave the preview, open View as and select Exit preview; you return to your own view in one click.
The preview changes nothing
Section titled “The preview changes nothing”A preview only reskins the app. It never changes any data, never changes what anyone is permitted to do, and never changes your own persona. It is a safe way to check what a persona sees before you assign it to someone, or to reproduce something a colleague describes from their persona.
